Walking into the Corona Theatre in Montreal a few nights ago, my teenage self was resurrected from the long lost days of screaming music, colourful died hair, and too many bracelets to fit on one wrist. It was, of course, the excitement that was to follow which got my heart racing.
Wovenwar opened up the show and Beartooth tore up the place right before Atreyu took over. Atreyu played a set with a beautiful mixture of new material and older tunes from the early 2000’s. Their hyped up energy and stage presence turned up the crowd’s intensity level from 0 to 100 in the first few seconds of their opening song. I literally felt fourteen years old again, singing along to songs like “Right Side of the Bed” and “Bleeding Mascara.”
An amazing highlight of my night was when the bassist of Atreyu, Porter McKnight, borrowed the camera of another photographer in the crowd to take pictures in the middle of a song. There was never a dull moment.
