Once again, I had the opportunity to experience the massive event that is Fan Expo Canada. With 128,000 guests, it’s one of the most impressive geek events in the world. One of the best parts of Fan Expo is the array of cosplayers. The mix of Spider-man costumes (with Deadpools) above is just a taste of the originality among comic book, TV, movie, and general geekdom fans. Below are some of the most unexpected, original costumes that we came across.
Sharknado
When this Sharknado cosplayer walked into the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, she could barely move, not because of the size of her costume but rather because so many people kept saying how brilliant the costume was. What you can’t see from the photo is that it actually lights up and gives the appearance of lighting strikes within the cloud. Unexpected and impressive!
The Last Human: Cassandra from Doctor Who
Speaking of brilliant costumes, Cassandra from Doctor Who (season “one” with the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston) is the last human. She was only missing someone who could moisturize her! This is one of the best doctor who costumes and cosplays ever!
KFC Colonel Sanders Ninja
A fascinating mix. Although, if you eat too much KFC, you might not be in good enough shape to maintain your ninja status.
Borg Cube Cosplayer
I’ve never seen anything like it but this Borg costume is impressive. I love the level of detail. I just don’t understand why he didn’t have holes for his arms!
Giant Minotaur
The giant minotaur walking around blew everyone away!
