Phone-checking is Among the Biggest Turn-offs on a First Date: Survey

Dating website lovestruck.com used the surveys from almost 3,000 individuals to better understand dating behaviour among people on a first date. Their findings were fascinating, if not unexpected, to say the least. If you want to get to a second date, you’d be wise to read the results carefully!

Deal Breakers

The basics of simple hygiene are still important, meaning that if you want to get to a second date, make sure you don’t have bad breath or body odour. Acting rudely or picking your nose were also high on the list of turn-offs. With so many people addicted to their smartphones, it’s no wonder people keep checking for messages and social media updates from friends. That said, a whopping 75% of people on a first date said that someone who checks their phone constantly through the date is not worth a second one.

What Daters Forgive

If you’re a bad kisser, crappy dancer, late to your date, or lack confidence, you’re in a bit of luck. People on a first date do forgive these and overlook them in favour of a second date. However, there is a tendency for men to overlook these far more than women do.

Here are the rest of the survey’s findings.
