The BINDING HEARTS

Dear Office Manager,

I never broke so you never fixed me, sure I was always “bent out of shape”, but it’s who I was and you accepted me. In the beginning I was just a something hard yet flexible but it was you who turned me into so much more. We worked together day after day closely binding your words and binding out hearts. The way I held your papers together was the way you held me together, giving me the opportunity to be something I never thought I could. You tested my limits, you pushed me hard, you had me hold STACKS of papers together, something I never thought I could do! My coils turned for you, flexing and bending with every paper added. I saw the decline in my posture but I kept pushing myself to be what you wanted me to be. I guess I pushed too far. I looked in the mirror one day after holding the “Atkins” report together, you remember that one don’t you? Yeah, we had fun with that. Anyway, I bent myself beyond recognition that day, beyond my abilities…my whole body collapsed…I didn’t think you noticed. I shutter to think of that day you turned to staples, sure their more “stable” but what’s stability have to do with love? My only hope now is that you’ll see what could’ve been and bend me back to my regular shape so I can be brillant for you once again.

Sincerely,
Paper clip #35
