Models Crystal & Jocelyn: The Potter Twins

Models Crystal & Jocelyn: The Potter Twins

Crystal and Jocelyn Potter make up a pair of hot and hilarious Texan twins! They may be identical thanks to biology but they actually have quite different personalities. Crystal – the wild one and Jocelyn – the quieter one. They both love comedy, acting and call themselves the Twin Virgos. They had a lot to exay which is always great and why CitynetMagazine.com proudly presents the Potter twins. Enjoy…

Where are you from/live now?

We’re originally from Texas, born in San Antonio, but we currently reside in Los Angeles.

Enlighten us to your younger years.

Our father having raised us, whose occupation is that of a system’s analyst, had great influence during youth. Surrounded with technology from cable television (when it was once seen as a luxury item to have) to computers was definitely unlike other youths of our age.

So, you guys had a different home life than your friends?

Instead of involving ourselves with fashion trends and school activities, our world consisted of comedy shows, gaming consoles, and of course the Internet before the “Web”. While these technologies are now a staple in everyone’s household, it was what separated us from others our age back then.

How was high school?

Well naturally, as other students saw us as “different” or “odd” we were teased, taunted, and isolated during high school. In addition, because we are part Blackfoot Indian, we have a little turned up nose. So throughout all of our school years, especially high school, we were teased about our nose. The students would call us “Piggy”.

Are you fraternal or identical twins?

We are identical twins, Crystal being 2 minutes older than Jocelyn. As well as being identical twins, we are also mirror twins. This is defined through our mirror image characteristics (opposite features).
Crystal is right handed – Jocelyn is left-handed
Crystal’s hair parts to the left – Jocelyn’s hair parts to the right
Crystal is extroverted – Jocelyn is introverted

Do people mistake you for one another?

Yes & No
Yes, whether it is in person, or on the telephone.
No, once you know our opposite personality there is no mistaking who is who.

How did you get into models/pics/acting?

Crystal: In 1999 after having taken a 2 week trip to London, I came back to Dallas with a sense of belongingness towards London and their society. It was this inner feeling that drove me to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life, and incorporate my twin sister, Jocelyn, and London at the same time.

So, throughout 1999 I became aware of the commodity that Jocelyn and I possessed, not only as being twins, but also our comedic talents and our personable persona. It was at this time that I began writing a treatment for a sketch variety show incorporating all our assets. Our pleasing looks, wit and obscure sketches, interviews with celebrities, and live music from well known to unknown artists.

I felt the only location where our talents, and not just our looks, would be appreciated was in London. After 2 years of convincing Jocelyn about the sketch variety show and that our market was in London, she finally agreed to accompany me and pitch the show. After one and a half months of pitching to television producers, and making phone calls to any television station in the phone book, in the end it was Granada Television who liked what they saw in us.”

What has been the best experience?

The best experience, we both agree, is definitely all the people we get to meet. No matter if they are or are not celebrities, everyone whom we meet is somebody to us!

What has been the worst experience?

The worst experience we have ever encountered throughout our job was the lack of teamwork, lack of organization, and the lack of creditability. This is a rare occurrence for us, but unfortunately, it has happened on three occasions. (We will not mention any specifics for the sake of privacy towards those involved). All we can say is that because of those factors, for us, it turns from the generosity of helping to just feeling used. Knowing that our kindness and sincerity had been for granted is not the greatest feeling to have at the end of the day.

What do you do as a day job?

Crystal: As a day job, when I’m in Dallas Texas, I work part-time with the promotions staff for 93.3 The Bone which is a classic rock station.

Jocelyn: I’m a computer consultant. I provide Windows-based PC’s with hardware and software support. I also do Internet based research and marketing.

Favorite Music?

Crystal: My taste in music is very diverse which makes it almost impossible for me to pin-point a favorite genre. 60’s Pop and Rock, Country and Country Rock, Disco, 70’s Rock, Jazz, Easy Listening, 80’s Electronic, 80’s Pop, Ambient, House, Techno, and so on…

Jocelyn: Geez, sis you covered all the genres that I’m into as well! So let me list some specific artists that I’m into: Michael Nesmith, Paul McCartney & Wings, The Monkees, The Bee Gees (including Andy Gibb), The Beatles, and Queen! (Including all of Queen’s solo stuff as well).

What’s the deal with you gals and rock music?

The answer to your question is not so much, “What’s the deal with you gals and rock music?” but more so, “What’s the deal with you gals and music all together?”

Our love of music began through our father’s various tastes in music genres. His collection of LP’s ranged from Henry Mancini, Sylvia (country artist), ABBA, Neil Diamond, The Go-Go’s, Laura Branigan, Carly Simon, Kylie Minogue, and so many others! One image we will always remember whilst growing up is that of our father sitting on the living room floor, huge headphones on his head, his collection of LP’s scattered about, and transferring his LP’s onto cassette. He would label each cassette tape (in his Klingon handwriting) as “Road Tunes.” These “Road Tunes” cassette tapes would be playing in our father’s car during the numerous road trips we took each year. Who could have guessed that our father’s “Road Tunes” cassette tapes would have such an impact on us!

Have people recognized you on the street based on your ‘celebrity status’? What changes in your life would you say are due to your ‘fame’?

People who either recognize us, or know of us but cannot quite place their finger on exactly where they have seen our faces approach us often. It is flattering and we are truly appreciative of the compliments. The thing is, because of our humbleness we try to convey with great sincerity that we are like anyone else, and that nothing has changed within ourselves due to the ‘fame’.

What’s the most common question that people ask you?

Crystal and Jocelyn (in unison): “Are you twins?”

What are your greatest talents?

Crystal: It would lie somewhere between being able to stick my fist into my mouth to my ability of absorbing music trivia and knowledge. Pretty big spectrum, eh?

Jocelyn: This is an odd but true talent I have, and Crystal will back me up on this. I can do a dead on singing impersonation of Roger Taylor (the drummer of Queen), Andy Gibb, and The Bee Gees. Sometimes I sound so much like them it’s scary!

Favorite place on the planet? Favorite vacation spot?

Crystal: There are actually ‘places’ on the planet? My god! I am still trying to learn the geography of America!

Jocelyn: I’m in heaven when I’m inside of a comic book or anime store!

Crystal: Out of all the countries and states I’ve visited, I would have to say there are 3 favorite vacation spots which are London, Toronto, and most of all our family ranch, Stillwell Ranch, which is located in southwest Texas. London is where many of our very close friends reside. As for Toronto, well, every time we are there it feels almost like home as if we belong there, and not as an American visitor. Overall, though, The Stillwell Ranch will always be my number one choice for favorite vacation spots! Our grandparents reside there, whom Jocelyn and I look up to with high regards and much love. It is a place of great tranquility and serenity, and in the end, will be where I will retire someday.

Jocelyn: Favorite vacation spot…. well London or Toronto. But if I have to get away from everything (the city, technology, etc.) then it is our family ranch (Stillwell Ranch), hands down!

Pet Peeves?

Crystal: If only my ex lovers would have taken heed to this question! Ha! Ha! I only have two pet peeves, which are: ‘I won’t lie to you, so don’t lie to me.’ and ‘Don’t say one thing and then your actions show different.’ These are typical basic human principals, but apparently with many, it is a case of ‘easier said than done’.

Jocelyn: Because of how I look, it’s hard for people (especially guys) to believe me when I tell them I collect comic books, non-sports trading cards, and action figures. I always get the same old line “You don’t look like a comic book collector….”

Describe your wildest experiences.

Crystal: There were two years from 1997-1999 that I often refer to as my “party days”. I was flying back and forth to Dallas and Los Angeles with the intentions of partying, meeting people, and partying some more! There are times, to this day, where I’ll begin to remember places or people from those two years and think, “How the hell did I end up at that place?” or “How in the hell did I survive that much drug intake?” All I can say about those wild experiences is that having been very young at that time I learned a lot about people but mostly about myself, and I’ve never regretted it once!

Jocelyn: I’m living them all through Crystal!

Why is humor so important to you?

Crystal: Having been raised on comedy, especially British sketch comedy, we observe everyday life in sketch form. Imagine wearing a pair of x-ray glasses every single day of your life and by wearing those x-ray glasses, your observance and opinions of people and life would differ from those who have never worn x-ray glasses before. In our case, change the x-ray glasses to sketch comedy glasses, and you have our observation of everyday life.

Jocelyn: It’s the core of our existence. It is what we were raised on and what was constantly around in our environment. Our father has a marvelous sense of humor and it is through him that we have learned to find humor in everything. It’s the only way we know how to live life!

What do you want the world to know about you?

Crystal: I often appear as if I’m not paying attention or am off in my own little world, but looks are definitely deceiving. My mind is constantly calculating! From business to keeping 5 steps ahead of anyone who might try to ‘pull the wool over my eyes’.

Jocelyn: I am a collector of Dragonball Z animation cels, my prized action figure is my AFA graded Serpentor, and I own an original piece of comic book art from Wolverine issue #58.

What’s the greatest risk you have ever taken?

Crystal: Packing all our belongings and taking our show idea to London without a single meeting set-up before our arrival. We started from scratch when we arrived in London with less than 3,000 pounds in our pocket to survive on. It was the greatest and by far most brilliant risk I had ever taken!

Jocelyn: Allowing my sister to convince me to participate in what ever idea she would come up with. And you know what, I don’t regret it one second of it! Although there were times when I began to question her mental stability…

Choose any 3 words to describe yourself.

Crystal: Harmonious, Cryptogram, Animate.

Jocelyn: Thinker, Easygoing, Persevering.

Do women get caddy around you?

We keep a blind’s eye towards any sort of drama. Though we are aware of women getting catty in our presence we do not feed into their drama.

If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?
Jocelyn: “This is a tricky one…”
Crystal: “A trick ball?”
Jocelyn: “No, a trick question.”
Crystal: “Oh, so your answer is a trick question!”
Jocelyn: “Never mind.”

It’s 12:01 am. What are you doing?

Crystal and Jocelyn (in unison): “Watching SCTV!”

Thong vs. regular undies, and why?

Crystal: I actually prefer wearing ‘boy shorts’, which I guess technically could be categorized under regular undies. ‘Boy Shorts’ sit better on my hips, and damn did Sigourney Weaver look sexy wearing them in the movie ‘Alien’!

Jocelyn: “I couldn’t agree with you more!”

Favorite body part on men? On your own body?

Crystal: The eyes!! To quote Pink Floyd ‘Eyes are saucers full of secrets’. As for my favorite body part on myself, I would have to say my nose.

Jocelyn: On men it’s the earlobe. As for myself, I would have to agree that my favorite body part is my nose.

Do you gals have significant others? Do you only date twin guys? (ha ha!)

Crystal: Does ‘imaginary lovers’ count as a significant other?
Jocelyn: No significant other right now…..would be nice though. This doesn’t mean marriage by the way.

A day spa, a flight in a F-15 fighter jet, or passionate animal-like sex?

Crystal: Passionate animal-like sex! If properly done, in my books, it is a mental and physical stimulation. So you get the best of both worlds!

Jocelyn: I’m the same way. If I get mentally stimulated I will then get physically aroused. Having said that, my choice is definitely passionate animal-like sex!

Your policy on one night stands?

Crystal: If both parties are aware that it is a one night stand, I see nothing wrong with it.
Jocelyn: I try to avoid them, but hey if it happens, it happens.

Any secret pleasures?

Crystal: Yes, but it’s a secret.
Jocelyn: I do find anime hentai very fascinating!

Were you ever interested in women?

Crystal: Of course! Many of my former lovers portrayed themselves as women, and hell, even better than any actual ‘woman’ could. Their mentality was that of a woman, and their feminism was, and still is, an attraction for me. There were times I would feel a bit envious and jealous when my lovers looked sexier than I did whilst wearing my lingerie or dresses. But then isn’t that how us, as women, usually are?

Would you describe yourself as more dominant or submissive in bed?

Crystal: Both. It just depends on my mentality at that precise moment in bed.
Jocelyn: I know that I’m having the best sex when I allow myself to be submissive.

Favorite upcoming projects?

For the entire month of October we will be performing in the erotic stage show X. We will be the special feature X-Girls for the month October. The show is at Harveys Lake Tahoe. It’s a very sexy show and definitely worth going to see…especially since we’ll be in it!

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

Crystal: I see myself working behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. Either in music or television, I want to be the one making the deals.

Jocelyn: Career wise, I see myself involved in either the animation, comic book, or action figure, industry. Whether I’m doing the voice for a character or creating them, that’s where I hope to be. In my personal life, I hope to have a significant other to share my life with. Again, this doesn’t necessarily mean I have to be married.
