Rain or Shine, Outdoor EDM Party Piknic Electronik Beats Go On

Rain or Shine, Outdoor EDM Party Piknic Electronik Beats Go On

After record-breaking cold this winter, the month of May has finally brought summer along. What better way to spend it than outdoors, with friends, drinks and electronic music?

Now in its fourth annual edition, Piknic Electronik invites city-dwellers of all ages to come dance, relax, walk, drink and eat on the grassy lawns of Parc Jean-Drapeau. It takes place every Sunday from May to September.

The Formula is Simple!

Set up two stages, invite top local and international DJ’s to spin up quality tracks and let the crowds enjoy the warm weather months outside.

For Victoria Day long weekend, Piknic Electronic had a special two-day event. DJ’s Maya Jane Coles, Heidi, Laura Scavo, Voyage Funktastique and Walla P & Dr.Mad treated us to some delicious sounds.

Bar a BucketsThis was my first experience at Piknic, so i was eager to find out what the buzz i had been hearing for the past few years was all about. I was meeting some new friends and this was the perfect setting for getting to know each other better. Wine, beer and “buckets” of mixed drinks livened up the party. Some people danced under the open sky, others lied down in the grass, while some walked around the beautiful park. The rhythmic beats mixed with the warm gentle breeze and the sun came in an out of the clouds as the evening set in.

Sunset on the Montreal Skyline

Sunset on the Montreal Skyline. The clouds and a bit of rain didn’t stop the party… it made the party more wild!

Even in the Rain…

We got treated to a wonderful sunset as the storm clouds rolled in. The music mix and the chilled party ambiance combined with the visual stimulation that nature provided resulted in a unique form of art, performed by the artists on stage, the visitors and nature itself.

When it began to pour, the music went on and the crowd on the main stage just got louder. Every wave of rain, getting stronger and stronger, prompted cheers from the crowd as everyone lifted their hands to sky, dancing in the rain, sharing in the experience with those around them.

It can be said that Montreal is a tough city to live in because of its long, cold winter months. Perhaps exactly because of that, once summer rolls around, Montrealers know how to shed the layers, soak up the sun (and the rain too!) and party on.

It’s All Summer Long!

This EDM party takes place every weekend until September in Montreal. Check out the video recap and make sure you don’t miss out on this unique experience that’s spread internationally to Barcelona, Melbourne, Dubai, Paris and Cannes.
