Smallville Reunion: Cast Set to Gather at Montreal Comiccon

In what is sure to be an unforgettable event for comic book enthusiasts and fans of the groundbreaking television series, the cast of “Smallville” has announced a highly anticipated reunion. The iconic gathering is slated to take place at Montreal Comiccon, bringing together the most popular actors who made the show a legendary success! While I think the first six seasons were the best, the series ran for an unprecedented 10 seasons.

The Superpowered Players

Leading the roster is none other than Tom Welling, who portrayed Clark Kent as he was growing up and destined to become Superman. It was great to see how he could be bruised by bullets early on but eventually grew stronger and more impervious. Then of course, there’s the trigger for his heat vision. But let’s not get into that right now! While he never wore the official Superman suit and was called “The Blur” in later seasons, he still did a great job as Clark Kent. Along with several other iconic Superman actors, most notably Christopher Reeve, Welling became synonymous with the iconic superhero, offering a unique portrayal of Kent’s teenage years in the small Kansas town.

Joining Welling will be Laura Vandervoort, who played Kara Zor-El, otherwise known as Supergirl, Clark’s Kryptonian cousin, will also be part of the gathering. Vandervoort’s Supergirl offered fans an additional link to the rich lore of Krypton and the broader DC Universe. We have interviewed her in the past (Laura Vandervoort interview one and Laura Vandervoort interview two) and she’s as sweet as they come.

In a much smaller role (but still superpowered!), Michael Shanks who portrayed Carter Hall (Hawkman), is also set to join the reunion. Shanks’ Hawkman added a unique element to the series, tying it into the broader Justice League storyline and DC Universe.

From Lois to Lex!

Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane, Clark’s enduring love interest in later seasons and future wife, will also be present at the reunion. Durance’s portrayal of the fearless reporter is cherished by fans for the comic relief and romance she brought to the show.

Welling’s on-screen best friend turned nemesis, Lex Luthor, played by the unforgettable Michael Rosenbaum will be there! Rosenbaum’s captivating performance gave depth and intrigue to the well-known villain, redefining his relationship with Superman in the context of the series. Don’t forget the single most iconic line of the entire Smallville TV series: “I am the villain of the story.”

Kristin Kreuk, who portrayed Lana Lang, Clark’s primary love interest in the early seasons, is also slated to attend. Kreuk’s portrayal of Lana Lang, a character also originating from the comics, added a layer of warmth and complexity to Smallville’s narrative.

John Glover, who masterfully played the role of Lex Luthor’s father, Lionel Luthor, is also expected at the reunion. Glover’s compelling interpretation of the ambitious and ruthless tycoon was a critical addition to the dynamics of the show.

The Official Smallville Reunion at Montreal Comiccon

The upcoming reunion at Montreal Comiccon presents a unique opportunity for fans of “Smallville” to see their favourite characters back together again, revisiting cherished moments from the show and undoubtedly sharing behind-the-scenes stories.

Montreal Comiccon promises to be an eventful gathering and a nostalgic journey back to the idyllic Kansas town of Smallville, where a young Clark Kent learned to balance his everyday life with his emerging superpowers. It will be a reunion that honours the series which left an enduring impact on the superhero genre, forever altering the way such stories could be told on the small screen.
