The Heated Throw You Can’t Live Without

The Heated Throw You Can’t Live Without

One of my favourite parts of the holidays is to read (books but also comic books, ha ha!), watch TV, and relax. I often read while lying on a couch by the fireplace or in bed. For an added touch, I sometimes spray lavender mist in the room which further enhances the ambiance. I now have a new addition that I am surprisingly ecstatic about: A heated throw!

…This is no ordinary electric blanket…

An Electric Blanket?

I was given an NHL-branded Sunbeam microplush heated throw to review. At the time, I didn’t really think much of it. Then I used it. Wow! This is no ordinary electric blanket! I challenge you to lie down, let the heat warm your body, and not say that you love it. I bet you won’t be able to because it’s so comfortable and practical.

I sincerely cannot believe how much I love this latest addition to my routine. In fact, before even publishing this article, I’ve committed to buying more of them and so have other members of the Citynet Magazine team. Yes, it’s that good!

Three Settings

When I was a kid, my parents bought a small yellow heating pad to use when for example, a family member’s back would hurt. That was useful but it also got very hot. Moreover, the power cord was often too short depending on where you were in the house thereby requiring an extension cord.

Sunbeam thought this through because they had a long wire attached to the throw. They must have realized that people would get annoyed if they had to get an extension cord just to use the throw. Well, you don’t need an extension cord for this one. It has a long enough wire so you can easily go from den to bedroom without worrying about reaching the power outlet.

When I first turned it on, I immediately went to the highest of three settings. It was too hot for me! I brought it down to the low and then medium setting during the evening.

Why it’s a Safe Option

I always use to stress about the heating pad as a kid because my parents continually warned me that if I fell asleep, it could catch fire or be dangerous in some way. So I was happy to discover that the Sunbeam heated throw actually has an automatic shut-off feature that stops heating after three hours. Nice!

Hockey Fights Cancer

Hockey Fights Cancer is a successful campaign by the NHL wherein companies donate $5 from each sale of certain items to the fund. Buying the Sunbeam throw helps with this charity. That’s just the icing on the cake.

Colours and Patterns

I’ve since done my homework and discovered that Sunbeam throws have many different colours and styles. As you can see from the photo above, mine is grey on one side and has a pattern on the other. I’ve also seen Montreal Canadiens and other NHL versions as well as heated throws made from other materials (which cost more but are worth it, I’m sure).

Should you buy the Sunbeam heated throw?

A resounding yes! It’s a great product and I recommend it.
