Kristen Deluca is a Florida-based ambitious, aggressive, smart, and curvaceous model who sets her sights on something and goes for it. She’s been modeling for several years, and has been featured in Playboy multiple times. This platinum blonde bikini model (look at that hair!!!) had a lot to say (the more the merrier!) about her life, modeling experiences and offers advice for up-and-coming models.
Citynet Magazine: Where are you from/live now?
Kristen Deluca: I am from Ohio, and I now live in Tampa, Florida….(It’s too hot here!).
Tell us about your youth.
I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. At an early age I always climbed on things, so my mom enrolled me in gymnastics when I was 3 years old. I became an excellent gymnast, and was on levels with girls twice and three times my age. I seemed to be good at anything I tried. I was also a competitive all-star cheerleader since the age of 9, on squads with girls up to the age of 18. At 9 years of age I was the first girl (at that young of an age) to win the title of NCA All-American throughout the USA, Europe and Canada, having beat out 18 year olds, and they only chose 6 girls total out of more than 500 girls that tried out! Woo-hoo, I loved to be the center of attention, and I always pushed myself to excel. I was very athletic since childhood.
How were your high school years? Did the boys love or hate you?
I attended two high schools in Ohio. Padua Franciscan for my freshman and half of my sophomore years, and then I transferred to my first public school EVER for the remainder of high school. The boys definitely did NOT hate me. I looked about exactly the same as I do now. Right after I transferred, hardly knowing anyone, I was voted as “Homecoming Queen” for the Junior class. What an accomplishment. That was one of my most favorite memories back then. I loved to go out, and mingle with friends. I had a steady boyfriend for over 2 years in high school. When we broke up, I had plenty of offers for dates. I miss high school, and would love to go back for at least one day, to rekindle those great times I had. Every now and then, I get emails from kids in high school telling me how proud they are of me and all of my accomplishments, especially since I used to always tell everyone that I wanted to be a famous model someday, and it seems that I am actually doing what I set out for myself!
How did you get into modeling?
I got into modeling the most in college. I was in the Miss Teen Ohio pageant when I was 17 years old. I have been a waitress at Hooters for over four years now, and have been in their calendars. I did not have the time to devote myself fully to modeling while attending college, so as soon as I graduated this past May, I took my modeling on full-time. I am holding off on starting a career with my degree, to pursue my dreams, and see how far they can take me. Hopefully out to L.A. sometime soon. I would love to become an actress. Within these past five months, my career has exploded phenomenally. I couldn’t be happier. Everything I have done so far with my modeling, I have done it on my own. I do not have any agents or managers. I find my own work, and people find me who are interested in hiring me. It seems to be working pretty well so far.
Favorite type of modeling?
My favorite type of modeling would have to be swimsuit modeling. I think women look fantastic in bikinis. I feel very beautiful when posing in them.
Describe your Playboy experiences.
My Playboy experiences have all been phenomenal. It has been my dream ever since I was in the 7th grade to get into Playboy. I attended a few casting calls, where I was chosen to be featured on the news, in a DVD, and posted on their website. I also won the title of Playboy’s Miss Panama City Spring Break 2005, where they made me a Cyber Girl. From there I was also chosen to be published in the Fall 2005 issue of College Girls magazine. I had my shoots in Chicago, where they flew me there and put me in a fantastic hotel. It was a blast! I also was asked to shoot for an ad that was used in the July issue of Playboy magazine featuring myself on a bicycle in the potpourri section. You can see me on the Playboy website, in the Cyber Club, in the 50th Anniversary Playmate Search DVD from 2003, and in the magazines I previously listed. Playboy has been the greatest company I have ever had the privilege to work with. The photographers are all spectacular and very professional. I have always felt very comfortable every time I have posed nude with Playboy. My fan reactions have all been great, I have heard nothing but positive feedback. I receive several emails everyday from admirers all over the world, expressing their views from my features. That is the greatest feeling when you have “fans.” My ultimate goal is to become a Playmate of the Month, and my fingers will remain crossed until I accomplish that goal as well!
What advice would you give to young women who want to break into bikini/glamour/lingerie modeling?
Advice to get into modeling… DO NOT GO TO THOSE MODELING EXPOS WHERE THEY TELL YOU TO ATTEND MODELING SCHOOL AND CLASSES AND WASTE YOUR MONEY. All you have to do is find a good photographer and start a portfolio. I would also suggest registering at onemodelplace. I have had much work through them. It’s as easy as that, and make sure you have realistic goals and the perseverance to reach those goals! [Editor’s note: You should also try to become a featured model on CitynetMagazine.com – they get lots of work and feedback too!]
Best experience?
The best experience for me in my modeling career would be people coming up to me and asking “hey was that you in ..blah blah blah magazine?”. What an incredible feeling for me when people recognize me on the street. I also had a professional NFL player come up to me at Hooters because he had recognized me from my Playboy College Girls magazine, and he told me that he was a huge fan of ME. Holy Cow, an NFL player being a fan of ME, WOW, I was astonished!!!!!
Do women get catty around? How do you handle it?
The women I am around everyday are the girls I work with at Hooters. Sure, girls talk a lot, but I can honestly say that I haven’t seen or heard anyone say anything negative about my career. But who knows what goes on behind each other’s backs. Everyone is always so proud of me, and they love when I bring in new magazines and calendars for them all to see. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of gals to hang out with at work. I have a great time working there.
Have people recognized you on the street based on your ‘celebrity status’?
People have recognized me on the street. I love it! Nothing has really changed from that. As long as I don’t have any paparazzi chasing me like all those famous people, I will be all right.
Has anyone ever run up to you in the street and brought you flowers?
No one has ever run up to me in the street to give me flowers. I rarely have ever gotten flowers. I do get some really good tips at work though. That’s about it.
Do you intend to use your degree in Criminology one day?
I do NOT intend to use my degree in Criminology ever. I loved my field for school studying purposes. Too bad it is nothing what you see on TV. I was supposed to attend law school, especially since I had a straight “A” average in school, was in several national honor societies, on the honor’s Dean’s List, and graduated “Cum Laude”, I eventually decided after taking my LSAT and registering to apply to schools, that I really did not want to go to school for 3 more years, and be in that type of field. I know I realized it a little too late, but I am glad I did not start something and have to quit it. I am very happy woth what I am doing now, and I will always have that degree to “fall back on”.
What’s the most common question that people ask you?
The most common questions people ask me are very superficial, but they don’t bother me at all. #1=Is that your natural hair color? ummmm…NO, how many girls have natural platinum blonde hair with dark eyebrows. Come on people, think about it!! hahaha… #2= Are those real? nope, sure aren’t, and they were worth all the money…hehehe…
Pet Peeves?
Cockiness, bad teeth, ignorance, bad breath, arrogance.
Any wild party experiences?
Actually I am NOT a partier at all. Don’t really even drink. Sorry, no big stories to share!
What is a typical day in your life like?
I wake up, feed all of my animals ( 1 dog, 1 cat, 2 turtles), work out at the gym, watch a little TV, go to work or a shoot, eat some food throughout the day, call my mom in Ohio to say hello and see how her day is going, go tanning, run some errands. Nothing really special, just normal everyday things. I love going to the movies though, I see about 1-3 movies at the theater per week. I definitely make time for that!
Name anyone, alive or dead, who you would love to meet/hang out with/get to know.
I would love to meet Pamela Anderson. She is my inspiration in everything, and I think she is the most beautiful woman
What do you want the world to know about you?
I want the world to know that I am a wisecracking jokester. I love to make people laugh, and I love to act like a goofball. I would also like everyone to know that I am a “family gal.” Family means everything to me, and I love to spend time with them!
What’s the greatest risk you have ever taken?
The greatest risk I have ever taken, would probably be when I moved to Florida at the age of 18 to attend college all by myself, not knowing a single person in the state. I think I have done pretty well for myself!
It’s 12:01 am. What are you doing?
Definitely sleeping at 12:01 am. I am an early bird that goes to bed early too.
Any secret pleasures?
Secret pleasures would be collecting my “smores” (little marshmallow figurines, I have over 500 of them), collecting M & M’s figurines and such, collecting anything that has to do with “Garfield the cat”…… NOT THE TYPE OF ANSWER YOU WERE LOOKING FOR PROBABLY…hehehe
Favorite upcoming projects?
All of the upcoming projects I have are 2006 calendars, and several magazines. I don’t have any particular thing that I am looking forward to, but that could all change at any time.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I would love to see myself living in L.A. as a model and an actress, with a family.
