Montreal Old Port Rooftop Terrace Perché Delivers

Montreal Old Port Rooftop Terrace Perché Delivers

One of my guilty pleasures of summer, if you can call it that, is to spend time with my favourite people on the many rooftop terraces in Montreal’s Old Port. I’ve been doing this for many years, and can honestly say that not only do I really love the experience, but it’s been consistently wonderful, year after year. I’ve introduced so many people to these places, and many have returned on their own, that I sometimes wish there were a loyalty program. I’d probably have earned a few free meals by now!

Yet Another Buddy Meets Terrace Perché

On this particular evening, my buddy Allan was visiting from Ottawa, so we headed to Terrasse Perché to enjoy the beautiful views overlooking Montreal‘s Old Port and the St. Lawrence River. There’s something special about sitting above the busy streets, enjoying the scenery and doing a little people-watching while taking in the atmosphere of everyone around us just having a good time.

The Food, Cocktails, and Service

I’m writing this as a nod to Terrace Perché and not as an extensive review. The food was excellent, and we both enjoyed our cocktails. But what really stood out on this visit was the service. It was outstanding throughout the evening. In fact, I didn’t have to ask for water even once! That might sound like a small detail, but considering how often I have to flag waiters for water at restaurants across Montreal, it was a welcome change. I wrote about the water refill issue in one of my tipping articles, so yes, it actually means something to me, especially on a warm summer evening. Props to the staff for being so attentive. It reminded me of the old days at Moishes (at the restaurant’s old location) when there were just so many attentive wait staff walking around that you were never left asking for something (or asking for it twice).

Between the beautiful views, great food, tasty cocktails, and attentive service, Terrasse Perché delivered another memorable evening in Montreal’s Old Port.

And yes, I’ll be back. Probably with another friend!
