Charmaine Barran

Charmaine Barran

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.

What’s your family background?
My exotic, original look can be attributed to my heritage which blends my Trinidadian father with my British/West Indian mother.

How did you get into modeling?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a model or actress. I always thought that one day I would be one, although it was not a possibility at that time because I was so busy with school and dancing. I took Jazz and Ballet classes, and that used up most of my time. Growing up, Charmaine wanted to try modeling, but it just wasn’t a possibility at that time. Now that I am older, I decided to try modeling. My sister has been modeling for a long time and has helped me with the process.

How’s the modeling going?
I have done TFP and paid shoots with various photographers, modeled corsets for a catalog, and other promotional modeling. I have also been approached to sign a contract for an independent American movie! I’m currently pursuing a role as a bikini model in an the independent film industry. I really enjoy modeling, and hope to do a lot more!

What degrees do you have?
Since it was luck that got me to where I am, I’ve never allowed myself to develop the diva attitude many models are known for. With the short life span of models, I recognize that  looks are not enough of an attribute. That’s why I’m studying Early Childhood Education. I also have a Diploma in Health and Wellness.
