Montreal Chef Danny “Smiles” Francis Merges Urban Sugar Shack with Art
An exclusive interview with chef Danny “Smiles” Francis at Cabanasuc. Cabanasuc (cabane a sucre) is an urban sugar shack pop-up food event in Place Montreal Trust (a mall in downtown Montreal). Danny Smiles is best known for working at Le Bremner in Old Montreal, serving 2,000 artists and crew members at the annual Osheaga music festival, Heavy Montreal, Crown Salts, and appearing on Top Chef Canada (season 3).
Art & Food Collaboration
For the event, chef Danny Smiles and chef Chuck Hughes collaborated with Lndmrk (producers), Whatisadam (art), Station 16 Gallery, Pub West Shefford, and 24h Montreal.
With the success of the Cabanasuc event, it appears that more collaborations will be coming our way.
