WWE Diva Search Leyla Milani

WWE Diva Search Leyla Milani

TV’s Deal or No Deal hostess Leyla Milani is featured this month. She’s a hot acting talent who is breaking into TV and movie roles bigtime. From music videos to HBO’s Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and host of FOX Sport Net’s Celebrity Golf Tournament, it’s not wonder her fan club is growing so fast. As the runner-up in the WWE Diva Search, she’s one Diva you don’t want to mess with!

Citynet Magazine: Where are you from/live now?

Originally from Toronto, Canada and currently live in Los Angeles.leyla-milani-2

What were you like as a kid?

Leyla Milani: A true tom-boy… I know a lot of models claim that but I was a true tomboy. I hung out with the guys, was in to sports, pretty much active all the time.

How did you get into acting?

Originally I moved out to LA to pursue my fashion design degree. I started my own label shortly after college. I had some issues with my business partners at the time and decided to leave the industry for a while and pursue my acting aspiration. Started doing small extra roles on sets to music videos and eventually got better and better and here I am!

What would you consider to be your “break through” role?

Well, role or break? I think the Diva Search definitely put me on the map so to speak. A lot of people still to this day recognize me from that but now I think Deal or No Deal is really the show that’s making Leyla a household name. LOL…did that sound cocky? I hope not!

Describe a typical day as a Deal or No Deal model.

Lots of “hurry up and wait.” We work an average of 12-14 hours a day. Start out with hair, makeup, wardrobe which takes the most time, usually 3-4. I mean we have 28 models… so it takes a while. Then there’s a lot waiting around. There’s lots of yummy/fattening food they have out for us which isn’t a good thing considering we have to fit into our skin-tight dresses. Then we get out there, shoot an episode, that’s the fun part…when you’re actually playing the game cuz you really start to get into it. Oh and some of us (gambler backstage) make a little extra money backstage by betting on some of the games or contestants. It’s a lot of fun and it can be quite lucrative. LOL.

What was your favorite part of being in the WWE Diva search?

Traveling to different cities each week. Meeting the fans in each city… stepping out in front of thousands that was pretty incredible. You feel like a rock star! I really have memories that will last me a life time. It was an enormous, challenging, exciting experience.

What has been the best experience?

Getting pied in the face! LoL…just kidding. The best, well, there were so many but I guess going all the way to the end. I remember hoping if anything let me just get to the top 3 so I can go to Canada and see my friends!

Worst experience?

There really wasn’t a bad experience for me on RAW. I really enjoyed every moment of it. You’d think I would say “losing.” But actually finishing 2nd place was the best thing for me. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I am very content with where I’m at in my life professionally.

What do you do in your downtime?

I read a lot of books and watch tons of movies. I love solitude and every so often I go into my own world and do things for me…reading, watching a great film, listening to music. Anything that takes me out of the present and away…even if it’s for a little bit. I do admit I do spend a lot of time on myspace now that I’m on. I had a few fake accounts up there and figured I should have an official page of my own. www.myspace.com/therealleylamilani. But I’m on myspace a lot now because I love finding up and coming artists and some great music from all over the world. I’m really into Electronic/house/trance music and thanks to mypace I’ve found some amazing djs and artists.

Are you a big partier?

Definitely not a party-girl! Contrary to popular belief, I am not a big partier-at all! For me a wild experience is going to Vegas, sitting down at a blackjack table and betting 10 grand on one hand! LOL now that’s wild. If I go out, I go out big! But the idea of going to a bar or club and getting wasted isn’t really my idea of fun.

Have you been recognized as a model in public?

Yeah, I guess my hair is my trademark and people recognize me a lot from that. It’s great. I love it. It’s great being on a number 1 show and the perks aint bad either…

Has anyone ever run up to you in the street and brought you flowers?

No, no flowers but I have had guys leave little notes on my car windshield…or come up to me with business cards or claims they’re agents or managers…that sort of thing!

What’s the most common question that people ask you?

Is your hair real? I get that all the time. No wigs, no extensions. I promise. I’ll even let you feel my head to be sure! LOL

What 3 words best describe you?

Ambitious, relentless, optimist, passionate…wait that’s 4!

What do you think is your sexiest body part?

Hmmm…how do I say this without sounding conceited…I guess my hair? Wait, that’s not a body part, or is it? I’ve been told my lips are alright…lol…so I guess that–my lips! Why? Ummm… cuz I was told they were? LOL

Name anyone, alive or dead, who you would love to meet.

Martha Stewart…she is my idol. I would love to meet her one day. I would have said Trump but I already met him on Deal. He is a cool guy!

Favorite upcoming projects?

My Indie film: The Boys and Girls Guide To Getting Down is opening in theatres March 16th, 2007. Beginning in early February, you can see me in my own 30 second promo for the USA network promoting Monday Night RAW…it’s titled RAW FANNATION and it’ll air for an entire year on USA network. I had a great time shooting that and I’m really excited to see the final cut.

I also co-star on an upcoming episode of All of Us on the CW network. I got to work with Tony Rock (Chris Rock’s brother.) He was a lot of fun and Alfonoso Ribeiro (Carlton from Fresh Prince) directed the episode. And lastly, you can see me on a national Bud-lite commercial titled: Mansion. It’s a parody of MTV Cribs where a rapper refers to me as “Monday!” LOL

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Reaching my 5-year plan and enjoying every minute of it! LOL I can’t reveal my master plan!!!!! I’ll surprise you…..
