On October 2nd 1869, Mohandas was born in a coastal town in British India. Almost eighty years later, he would be assassinated in public on his way to yet another address to the people that he loved.
Decide Not To Surrender
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is known as the Mahatma, would die but not before being instrumental in unifying his countrymen and bringing forth their independence. His words of encouragement and sage advice is still quoted today.
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” – Mahatma Gandhi
A diligent investigation and a careful eye will reveal that successful people all around the world have this in common; they persist in their endeavours. Pursuing your ideas until they bear fruit is the determining factor to success and without that drive nothing that begins could be completed by man or nature.
Tenacity Is Strength
In 1862, seven years before the birth of Mohandas, an inquisitive man called Louis Pasteur was hard at work researching the effects of micro-organisms in beer, wine and milk.
Until Louis Pasteur created the process we know today as “pasteurization”, these products were home to pathogens that caused diseases. His process reduced the number of viable pathogens in beer, wine, and later, milk.
Pasteurization led Louis Pasteur to the idea of micro-organisms causing disease in human beings. His proposal led surgeon Joseph Lister to develop antiseptic methods.
One hundred and seventeen years later after his death in 1895, his defining principle remains the sole contributor to all life’s success. “Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity.” – Louis Pasteur
Persistence is the universal success principle. If you are able to envision a goal and to move towards it without ceasing, evolving throughout by learning from your trials and errors, it is inevitable that some form of your vision be accomplished. Though not every endeavour will lead to success, it is certain that no success is possible without persistence.
