It happens to the best of us, we wake up on the wrong side of the bed and we just cant seem to shake off a bad mood. The good news is it’s normal and that’s when you need to identify that whatever you are stressing over is temporary and can be improved by a proactive mood changing plan.

Get a snack

Just like you did as a kid… sometimes you just need a little smack to lighten your mood. Usually a bad mood can have to do with low blood sugar. Having a snack of your favorite thing handy will balance those glucose levels and give you the glycogen stores back to your muscles and you’ll be feeling great again. Try a handful of nuts, the magnesium will increase blood flow.

Give a compliment

Take the focus off of your bad mood and give a friend or stranger a compliment. To see someone else light up should distract you for a moment about your bad mood. So brighten someone else’s day and it may lighten your mood.

Stretch

Stretching can relieve stress by relieving tight muscles and can help you to relax. A quick 10 minute stretch can change your mood by increasing blood flow and circulation. Also helping breathing and alignment.

Caffeine

A cup of coffee can boost you mood, but stick to 50-100 mg. Too much caffeine can overstimulate, but just the right amount can improve alertness and be a great perk to a bad mood. Caffeine stimulates adenosine, the non drowsy chemicals in the brain. Coffee also helps to boost the metabolism.

Vent to a friend

Sometimes a trusted friend can help you to put things into perspective. When your mind is fixed on a problem and the problem isn’t worth the time. They will help you snap out of it. Expressing yourself in a calm and rational manor can be calming as well. By talking about the issue, you are putting it into perspective.
