Canada’s Greatest Fire Pit Restaurant is in Old Montreal

Mercuri Montreal is an Old Montreal based restaurant that is the brainchild of owner Joe Mercuri and chef Athiraj Phrasavath. The duo have worked together for 10 years and decided to open this novel restaurant in early 2014. We visited the restaurant to try their tasting menu and learn about their fire pit.

In fact, the fire pit is the largest one in a Canadian restaurant that is located in a dining room. It’s one of the largest ones in any North American restaurant. Now, the interesting thing is that it is not a barbecue. There are crucial differences.

The ambiance of the restaurant is enhanced by the physical warmth of the fire pit’s heat but also just having the fire burning nearby is soothing in a sense. The food was fantastic, which is almost a given. So although the restaurant, bar, layout and decor of the eatery is all impressive, the fire pit really brings it all together.
