If you’re a poutine lover looking to try some creative and exotic styled poutines then Montreal’s Le Grand Poutinefest is for you! This Montreal poutine festival makes stops around the city for a few days at a time.
Asian Fusion Poutine
I recently visited this travelling taste of poutine heaven when they were set up in the parking lot of Place Vertu in Ville Saint Laurent. The options were abundant with your classic poutine, or for the more daring a crabmeat poutine! I went for an Asian fusion styled poutine and tried the dumpling poutine with peanut sauce from the Le Smoking Dragon. I know right! Now you’re asking… peanut sauce on a poutine? Well I’m here to tell you that it’s definitely worth a try!
Caribbean Poutine
Another poutine I found interesting and was excited to try was the jerk chicken poutine with their aioli sauce by Mama Caliente (Warning: It’s a bit spicy as is, but if you like the heat ask for their hot sauce. You won’t be disappointed.)
After getting churros from yet another food truck stand, I was stuffed! Whether you just want a delicious classic poutine or something more daring, this is one poutine festival you don’t want to miss. I mean, where else can you find everything from General Tao poutine to vegan poutine?!
Free Admission & Entertainment
Besides poutine, there are a few fun activities to enjoy. Members of Cirque Eloize performed a little skit for everyone to enjoy. Aside from poutine, delicious homemade hand-squeezed lemonade, churros, bouncy houses, and my favourite the carnival games! It’s definitely a nice treat and fun time for all! Admission to the event is free with some paid activities once inside. Alcohol is available as well.
The festival is a traveling event so if you missed it this weekend, don’t worry! You can find it at the locations listed here: Dates & Locations
