There are few things more awkward that introducing your current girlfriend to your ex-girlfriend. Yet, this kind of introduction may be inevitable. Instead of handling a run-in clumsily, you can prepare yourself for a meeting by following a few simple steps. Not only will this type of preparation help you avoid bizarre silences, but you will also look like a suave champ. This article assumes your ex was not a total psycho (which is all too common).
Realize the Inevitable
If you know that your ex will be at an upcoming function, prep your current girlfriend in advance. Tell her everything there is to know about your ex, and explain that your ex will attend the same event. You can go through the same steps if you frequent a bar or club that your ex still visits regularly.
Get together with your current girlfriend, and try to come up with a good plan. Talk about how you will both handle the encounter, and agree upon a solution that works for both of you. If you had a bad break-up, make sure that all negative feelings are out of the way on both sides before the encounter.
Be Polite

Your ex may look hideous, behave badly, or do something laughable. However, it is not a good idea to start gossiping about your ex while she is still within earshot. Instead, wait until you and your current girlfriend leave a party or club. When you are safely within the confines of your own home, you can begin to talk about your ex.
Allow your girlfriend to start the gossip. Sometimes, girls may click instantly, and bashing your ex right away may not sit well with your current girlfriend. In fact, it’s probably best to talk briefly about an ex after your girlfriend brings up the topic. After touching on the subject quickly, tell your girlfriend that you don’t want to talk about your ex, and then move on to more important things.
