Kapsalon Restaurant Serves Up Chicken and Waffles

Kapsalon Restaurant Serves Up Chicken and Waffles

So here’s another funny little detour from my usual eating habits Based on a few restaurants and dessert shops I’ve reviewed lately, you might think I spend all of my time eating ice cream, waffles, fried chicken, and over-the-top desserts. The truth is, I usually eat at much healthier places. So yes, it’s kind of funny that I ended up at Kapsalon Restaurant, a small comfort food spot near Villa-Maria Metro, because Citynet Magazine video host Sarah wanted chicken and waffles.

A Small Spot Near Villa-Maria Metro

Kapsalon is located on Décarie, in that local neighbourhood pocket near Villa-Maria. Don’t expect a flashy downtown restaurant vibe or some trendy dining room. It’s more of a small fast food-style place where you order, get your food, and go. I assure that that’s not a criticism. This restaurant knows what it is. We drove over a little later in the evening, and the fact that they were still open was already a good sign. Parking was also easy, which always helps.

Chicken, Waffles, Sauces, and Onion Rings

The menu focuses on a few main comfort food ideas, including chicken and waffles, burgers, kapsalon-style loaded dishes, sauces, sides, and drinks. Sarah wanted chicken and waffles, so that was the reason we went. They also have different sauces to choose from, which gives the meal a little more personality. The onion rings were good too. Overall, the experience was solid. The place was clean, the food was enjoyable, and it felt like they focus on their few things and leave it at that. Often times that’s enough.

A Good Low-Key Comfort Food Stop

Kapsalon Restaurant is not trying to be a fancy sit-down restaurant. It’s small, casual, clean, and practical. You go there when you want something filling, quick, and a little indulgent. Chicken and waffles, onion rings, sauces, maybe a burger or one of their loaded dishes. Would I eat this kind of food every day? Definitely not. But for what it is, Kapsalon delivered. It was simple, easy, open later than expected, and the food was good enough that the visit felt worth it.
