The May 2011 Spotlight Interview is with the incredible Aubrey O’Day! She’s a singer, an actress, a model, a hot TV personality and now she’s part of Citynet Magazine! You’ve seen her on the cover of Playboy, Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 list, and of course, watched her on the P. Diddy MTV show Making the Band 3: Danity Kane and more recently in her own reality show All About Aubrey. She has appeared in Hairspray (as Amber Von Tussle) on Broadway and she has just released a hot new single “Automatic” and her full album is set for release later this year. Citynet Magazine proudly presents Aubrey O’Day. Enjoy!
In “All About Aubrey” we see that you’re a normal, real person. Despite all of the celebrity and star power that you have, how do you stay so down to earth?
I stay down to earth because i know it could all be over like *snap*. You have to constantly fight for what you want.
How has all of this “drama” played out in your personal life?
My friends and family love me for who I am. If I were to change, it might have pushed some away.
Now that you’ve been on Broadway, what’s the next big personal accomplishment you want to fulfill?
I would like to release my solo album soon!
What inspired you to record the song “Automatic”?
We needed an up-tempo song for the album. This is one of the few I’ve recorded. I wrote it with my producer Adonis.
You’re very sexy and uber talented… does being smart get in the way?
Beauty & brains, nothing tops that, hahah!
How did the Playboy photoshoot go?
It feels really akward being naked in the beginning with all those people around you. But after a while, you forget they are there and you just walk around naked!
How did it feel for you personally and professionally to be on the cover of Playboy?
It was very liberating. I’m very open about my sexuality. Too bad some people leaked and talked smack about some pictures!
You seem to be very in touch with your fans. Give them a shout out!
Hey my fans, I just wanted to say thank you for the love and support troughout the years! We’ve been through a lot together! i <3 you.
Do you ever speak with any of your DK “band mates”?
Yes, Aundrea was on the show (All About Aubrey) but if you watched it, you’d know that something happened. I tried reaching out to her, but now it’s up to her. And I still love my momma DWoods!
Tell us one thing you want the world to know about you.
I’m here to stay, bitches! hahaha.
Name anyone, alive or dead, who you would love to get to know.
Marilyn Monroe! She is just perfect!
What can we expect from you in the next couple of years?
My album release, new music, new music videos, maybe another Broadway, that would be nice!
