Montreal hosts some pretty cool comedy shows, as you’ve probably notice. Some mix comedy genres, some our outrageously offensive, some have cheap beer (which I’m a fan of) – and they’re all awesome in their own ways. But the shows that cultivate a unique atmosphere, these are the ones that make you feel like you’re participating in something special.
The Album Cover Comedy Show is such an event. Hosted at the Katacombes, the ACCS has a punk/grunge/rock feel to it that I have yet to find anywhere else in the city. It really is one of the funniest ways to spend a Sunday evening.
The next show takes it’s inspiration from AC/DC and will be held on September 4th at 8pm. Pre-sale tickets are only $10 and enters you into a draw where you can win free drinks, posters, free drinks, tickets and… oh yeah, did I mention free drinks?
Tough Act to Follow
A comedy show lives and dies by the acts on stage. Luckily, The Album Cover Comedy Show, produced by Dion Owen and Wassim El-Mounzer, prides itself on killer lineups.
This upcoming show features Jason Hatrick (Zoofest),Lawrence Corber (Healthy Living Show), Jason Celin, Dana El-saleh, and will be hosted by Habib Siam. All of whom I never get tired of. If you’ve been out to any comedy shows in Montreal recently then you’ve definitely seen some of these people splitting sides.
Never Enough Comedy
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: comedy shows are the best events to go to. Movies, plays and concerts are great, don’t get me wrong. But there’s just something about someone standing on stage, on their own, doing their best to make your laugh that’s unlike any other experience you can have.
So go check it out. The Album Cover Comedy Show, September 4th from 8pm to 10pm at the Katacombes. Invite your friends, drink up, and laugh until you can’t laugh anymore. If it’s anything like the last ACCS, it’ll be a night to remember.
